The university's admissions FAQ describes MHT-CET for the Maharashtra State quota and JEE Main for the All India quota. Both routes require Maharashtra CET Cell registration for Centralised Admission Process (CAP) rounds; a JEE Main result alone is not a COEP seat offer. [12]
Before shortlisting: compare the branch syllabus, eligibility, category and the applicable year's CAP rules. The FAQ is undated, so verify the current admission brochure rather than assuming last year's rules apply.
Fergusson College · Arts & science
The 2025–26 first-year notice organises BA, BSc and BVoc applications by major subject and distinguishes grant-in-aid from self-financed programmes. Its BA English, Marathi-medium grant-in-aid admission notice specifies merit plus reservation norms, subject to seat availability. These are historical notices, not a universal rule for every course or a current cutoff. [13][14]

SCMS Pune · Business administration
For its 2026 BBA admission process, Symbiosis Centre for Management Studies Pune lists the Symbiosis Entrance Test (SET) followed by online Personal Interaction (PI). Its published merit weighting is SET 70% and PI 30%. These are SCMS Pune BBA rules, not the rules for every Symbiosis programme. [15]
Before shortlisting: check the programme's eligibility, institute registration, assessment stages and fee schedule, rather than treating one Symbiosis application as admission to every institute.

The thing outsiders miss about Pune: it is the only Indian city where a world-scale IT corridor and a world-scale automotive corridor sit 30 km apart — which is why "automotive software" is a Pune-native career that barely exists as a category anywhere else in the country.
About 18,123 IT openings were listed in Pune in April 2025.[11] Between 2023 and 2024 an estimated 15,000–18,000 Pune IT professionals lost roles, concentrated in traditional coding, manual QA and infrastructure support — while data, cloud and security roles went unfilled.[7] That split, not the headline, is the story a Pune student should plan around.

Why Pune, of all cities, needs mentoring
Pune produces a ₹4.69 lakh crore economy and 85–90 thousand open IT jobs at once — yet only 5% of Indian youth hold formal vocational training and 13.6% of urban youth are unemployed. The shortage here is not opportunity. It is fit.
Pune's IT employers posted 85,000–90,000 openings in Q4 2024 while positions unfilled beyond 90 days grew 35–40%. Demand and supply are both large; they do not meet. [7]
Nationally, 5.0% of 15–29-year-olds hold formal vocational or technical training; among those who do, 83.3% of men and 51.4% of women are in the workforce. Training aligned to the person changes outcomes. [4]
